Standard Life Property Fund Waiting Period

A random set of BAE images The Standard Life investment choices guide makes clear that investments in the property fund can be difficult to sell and investors might not be able to sell their investment immediately when they want to.  Due to the current state of the property market where the credit crunch has resulted in many fewer buyers of property, from 26 January 2009 Standard Life introduced a queueing system for those wishing to sell property investments and switch their investments into another fund.

This means that requests by members to switch from the property fund to another fund will be placed in a queue and the switch will not occur immediately.  This allows Standard Life to raise the appropriate funds by the controlled and appropriate sale of property.  The delay in implementing the member's request should not exceed six months.

This Waiting Period relates to those wishing to switch their investments and is not being applied to those drawing their Standard Life benefits on retirement.
