Pension Information
How will my pension be paid?Your pension is paid to you monthly directly into your bank or building society account. If you do not receive pension payments and are expecting them, please contact us immediately with your personal details.
Your pension will be paid to you after deduction of income tax. Pensions are subject to income tax in the same way as earnings from employment.
You will receive a pension payment advice slip with your first pension payment, and thereafter, only if there is a change in your net pension of £1 or more. The advice slip will show you the amount of your pension before and after tax.
How long will my pension be paid for?
Your pension will be paid from the date you retire for the rest of your life. If you die in retirement before you have received five years’ worth of pension, then a tax-free lump sum will be paid of the balance of five years’ pension.
When I die will my spouse / dependants receive a pension?
Pensions may be payable to your spouse, adult dependants or children depending on certain criteria. Please contact the Pensions Service Centre for further details.
Do I need to complete an Expression of Wish Form?
If you die before you have received your pension for five years a tax-free lump sum of the balance of five years' pension may be payable. Your Expression of Wish Form will be used by the Trustee to help decide who should receive any of this cash benefit that may be payable in the event of your death.
It is therefore a good idea, for the first five years after retirement, to ensure that you complete an Expression of Wish Form and that it is kept up-to-date if your circumstances change. A new form can be downloaded from the Forms section or obtained from the Pensions Service Centre.
Do I need to complete a Dependant Nomination Form?
Normally a pension is payable to a spouse but if you are not married or not living with your spouse, you may wish to complete the Dependant Nomination Form to allow the Trustees to consider paying the spouse's pension to another dependant. This form is applicable to BAE Systems Pension Scheme pensioners only.
