Death in Service
If you die in service, the following benefits will be payable:- A lump sum death benefit equal to three times your Pensionable Earnings at date of death;
- A lump sum equal to the contributions paid by you into the Scheme;
- A spouse’s pension equal to 20% of your Pensionable Earnings at date of death;
- Children’s allowances equal to 10% of your Pensionable Earnings at the date of your death, up to a maximum of three children.
Payment of pensionable children’s allowances
- An allowance will normally be payable to pensionable children until age 18, or age 21 if the child is in full-time education or training which is approved by the Trustees or, at the Trustees’ discretion, up to any age if the child is disabled.
- Pensionable children are your own children, or those legitimised by your marriage, financially dependent step-children and legally adopted children and any other child who, in the Trustees' opinion, was dependent on you at the time of your death.
