The Trustees must agree a formal “Statement of Investment Principles” to ensure that the assets of the Scheme are invested and managed prudently and this can be downloaded below. The Statement of Investment Principles provides guidelines for what the Trustees expect and what investment managers may and may not do. It outlines:

• The kind of investments that the Scheme will hold (e.g. property, UK equities, bonds) 
• What returns are expected on various types of investment 
• The balance between different types of investments 
• The overall level of risk that may be undertaken.

The Trustees take their responsibilities as a substantial institutional shareholder very seriously. It has appointed Hermes Equity Ownership Services to monitor corporate governance issues on its behalf and a record of their activities can be downloaded below.
