Our recent pensioner newsletter mentioned that tax allowances can be transferred between married couples but did not make clear that the only tax allowances that can be transferred to a spouse or civil partner are blind person's allowance and married couple's allowance.

Form 575 can be used for applying to transfer these allowances and is available from tax offices or the HMRC website.
